Our Efforts in Benin

Catalyste+ has been working in Benin since 2007. We’ve contributed to community economic development and well-being by strengthening the capacity of partners primarily in agriculture, microfinance, and health and nutrition. We’re focused on climate-smart agribusiness, a sector that accounts for more than 80% of the country’s exports. We integrate gender equality into all our efforts, driven to ensure equal access to opportunities for social and economic prosperity.

Our Focus

Strengthening Agribusiness

Women make up 60% of workers in agriculture. Our Accelerating Women’s Empowerment program provides technical assistance to women farmers and women-led micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), organizations, and associations to increase productivity, competitiveness, income generation, employment and climate change resilience.

How We’ve Made a Difference in Benin

▪ Our partnership with Biscuiterie Biskara led to the creation of nutritional biscuits that combat hunger and malnutrition.

▪ Our partnership with Fédération Nationale des Communes Pastorales du Bénin empowered farmers to adopt agroecological practices, including the use of biopesticides that they produced themselves.

▪ The Centre Songhai strengthened their food, beverage and hospitality training program, helping clients enhance service quality.
